Mosquito Treatment FAQ

What is included in treatment?

Full site assessment of the property identifying all areas of breeding sites and elimination of those areas.

Recommendations for removing or reducing breeding sites for mosquitoes on the property.

Mist treatment of the property up to 20 feet high on all leaves and harborage areas for mosquitoes on the property.

What can a homeowner do to reduce the risk of mosquitoes?

  • Eliminate or reduce mosquito breeding sites. This includes bird baths, ponds, swimming pools, and anything than can hold water.

  • Remove any vegetation around any standing water sources.

  • “Tip and Toss” – empty or (preferably) get rid of containers, old tires, etc. that can hold stagnating water.

  • If you use barrels/containers to collect rainwater for watering gardens, cover them with screening to keep out debris and mosquitoes. Keep the screens clear of debris as well.

  • Dump excess water from dishes under outdoor flowerpots.

  • Flush the water out of bird baths at least twice weekly (the birds will appreciate the fresh water)

  • Store boats, canoes and other objects so that they do not collect rainwater. Remove water that collects in depressions in tarpaulins covering boats and other equipment or objects.

  • Cover or drain unused swimming pools. If you cover them with a tarp, make sure you remove leaves and other debris that collect on the surface.

  • Keep your roof gutters free of leaves and other debris that prevent water from draining and will attract mosquitoes.

  • Correct drainage problems in your yard that allow rainwater to pool in low-lying areas.
Fill tree holes with expanding foam (not cement) to keep them from being used as breeding sites by mosquitoes.

  •  Remove debris (or report drainage problems) in drainage ditches and culverts along private or public roadways.

How often should my property be treated for mosquitoes?

The length of effective treatment is dependent upon several variables including sunlight, temperature, humidity, surfaces treated, and control methods employed. Our service is designed treat for mosquitoes for 45 days.

How long does it take to do a mosquito treatment and how long will it last?

Treatment time will vary based on the property; however, a typical treatment will take about 15 -30 minutes and our treatments last approximately 45 days.

I’ve seen other companies say their treatments only last 21 days. What is different about your treatment that allows the treatment to last 45 days?

Our treatments consist of a two-step process. We utilize a pesticide combined with a surfactant that allows the pesticide to adhere to surfaces longer and provide more effective coverage. We also use an insect growth regulator that stops juvenile pests from growing into adults. This dual treatment allows you to enjoy your property for a longer period without worrying about retreatment.

Do I need to be home when you are treating my property?

No. If we have access to your property (gates unlocked) and no pets are present in the yard no one needs to be home.

Are treatments effective against any other pests?

Our treatment is designed to prevent mosquitoes; however, you may notice a reduction in other pests to include flies, gnats, fleas, and ticks.

Are mosquito treatments safe?

When applied properly by a licensed technician, yes, mosquito control treatments pose no risk to people or animals. The applications are applied strategically to shrubs, trees, and grasses.

Do you offer a natural treatment option?

Currently, we do not. We are exploring options for natural treatment products that provide a long residual effect on the treatment of mosquitoes. Please check back or feel free to contact us regarding this service.
